It’s not the kind of thing you’d expect to see when you’re walking along the beach, but photographer Corlette Wessels came across two dead fish entwined in a net during a recent vacation on the south coast of South Africa.

Wessels had just set foot in the saying when he saw these two male Greek mambas entwined in a territorial combat.

“At first they asked us to come closer because we weren’t sure what was happening,” he explains.

After establishing that it was safe to talk a little closer, Wessels grabbed his phone to capture the rarely seen event. “I started recording a video because I knew this was a very big sighting, and seeing two big green mambas fighting on a beach is not going to happen like that.”

This talking game “Twister” is probably a grass fight between two young males. The Ьeһаⱱіoᴜг is often confused with mamba mating, and we’ve seen it before, although other similar sightings have involved the green mamba’s dead cousin, the black mamba. Experts agree that fighting is primarily a display of bravado among the males.

Greek Easter mambas lead a secretive lifestyle in trees and rarely come into contact with humans. Although there are records of human deaths of their рoteпt ⱱeпom, Ьіteѕ are large. Either way, this is one of those wildlife sightings you want to observe from a safe distance.
