Jonathan Forgham, a bird watcher, captured the scene of an aggressive weasel trying to attack a heron and then being swallowed by the heron at Elmley Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey, about 74 kilometers east of London .

Forgham spent three hours photographing the owls before discovering that the weasel attacked the heron on March 5.

“I got closer and noticed that the weasel was attacking the bird. “At that moment, the heron had no intention of eating the weasel, it just wanted to get away from the animal.” “But the weasel bit the heron’s beak, causing the bird to pick it up and fly to the pond,” Forgham recalled.

“I drove to see the heron drown the mink. “He pulled the animal out of the water and then submerged it again to make sure the mink was dead.”

“Then, when the weasel was motionless, the heron swallowed it whole.” “I’ve watched birds all my life, I’ve seen herons eat ducklings and snakes, but I’ve never seen them eat something as big as a weasel,” Forgham said.

“Attacking a heron is not wise, but weasels are very aggressive animals, never give up and fight to the death. Many bite marks can be clearly seen on the heron’s beak.”[embedded content]
